Nunes’ first anti-straw remark, which has made in jest, caught the eye of freshman Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who took issue with his initial social media jab at the “STRAW POLICE.”

“At restaurant tonight waitress asks if we want straws. Says she has to ask now in fear of ‘THE STRAW POLICE.’ Welcome to Socialism in California!” Nunes wrote on Twitter.

Ocasio-Cortez came out defending Socialism by also joking that Nunes and Republicans “duped themselves” by drinking the anti-Socialism Kool-Aid, and being pressed to make statements such as Nunes’.

Ocasio-Cortez dig on Nunes has everything to do with his and other Republicans all-out slam of her Green New Deal economic proposal. The economic plan is hailed by Republicans as a ‘radical’ and over-the-top socialist stimulus plan.
