The news today has largely centered around President Trump, both domestically with Michael Cohen’s hearing and in terms of foreign matters with the President’s Summit with Kim Jong-un.
However, President Trump got into a back and forth with Democrat Senator Richard Blumenthal, mocking the Connecticut lawmaker over the Senator’s comments about having “served during the Vietnam War.”
This time served ended up being a lie, and the Senator quickly apologized, but the President, in true Trump fashion, took to twitter for a political jab.
I have now spent more time in Vietnam than Da Nang Dick Blumenthal, the third rate Senator from Connecticut (how is Connecticut doing?). His war stories of his heroism in Vietnam were a total fraud - he was never even there. We talked about it today with Vietnamese leaders!

On Capitol Hill, HISPOLITICA caught up with Senator Blumenthal and asked him to comment on the tweet the President had directed his way.
“I served during the Vietnam era,” Blumenthal reportedly said at a Vietnam War memorial in 2008. “I remember the taunts, the insults, sometimes even the physical abuse.”
Blumenthal’s statement was false, and later apologized for exaggerating or lying about serving in Vietnam. -HISPOLITICA
The senator, who said he was hard at work trying to stop the President’s declaration of a national emergency at the border from passing through, was cordial in his response, not letting emotions get in the way.
“We’ve issued a statement. We definitely decline to comment on these repeated statements. Actually, falsehoods,” he affirmed.
“And, I’m somewhat troubled that he’s squandering time and energy during sensitive and serious negotiations with a nuclear threat on peddling falsehoods about a political quip,” said Blumenthal.
Dubbed "Da Nang Dick Blumenthal," the Senator did not further comment on the nickname the President gave him.
