Georgia Senator Johnny Isakson (D) was the latest Republican senator to take issue over the Oval Office jab President Trump’s landed on the late Senator John McCain, saying that the comment was inappropriate and “deplorable.”

"I was never a fan of John McCain and I never will be.”-President Donald Trump

Appearing on Georgia Public Broadcasting’s “Political Rewind” radio show, Isakson continue his rant against the president.

“You may not like immigration, you may not like this, you may not like that, you may be a Republican, you may be a Democrat - we are all Americans. We should never reduce the service they give to this country.”

Isakson made his remarks before Trump doubled-down on his “not a fan” remark at a tank factory in Ohio, adding that he approved and gave McCain the funeral he wanted.

"I gave him the kind of funeral that he wanted, which as president I had to approve. I don't care about this. I didn’t get thank you. That's ok. We sent him on the way, but I wasn't a fan of John McCain," Trump said.

Trump then continued, referencing the dossier used to start the Mueller investigation.

"John McCain received the fake and phony dossier. You hear about the dossier? It was paid for by Crooked Hillary Clinton. And John McCain got it. And what did he do? He didn’t call me. He turned it over to the FBI hoping to put me in jeopardy."

I’ve really probably never will, but there’s certain reasons for it and I will tell you, and I do this to save a little time with the press later on, John McCain received a fake and phony dossier, did you hear about the dossier? It was paid for by crooked Hillary Clinton, right?"

“So I have to be honest, I’ve never liked him much. Hasn’t been for me,” Trump said, the room descending into awkward silence.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R) didn’t denounce Trump, instead he reflected on his "good friend."
