Standing in front of the ‘Death Star’ or the “shrine to greed, division, and vanity,” aka Trump Tower in New York City, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand officially launched her 2020 presidential campaign.
Gillibrand, and staunch liberal Democrat who supported President Obama’s entire political and ideological agenda, stuck to her progressive values, pushing the “Green New Deal,” universal pre-K” and “Medicare for All.”
The uber progressive senator went as far as to call President Trump a “coward,” saying that Trump likes to “demonize the vulnerable” and week, and likes to put his “name in bold” on buildings to make himself appear “strong.”
"He demonized the vulnerable, and he punches down," she said. "He puts his name in bold on every building. He does all of this because he wants you to believe he is strong. He is not. Our President is a coward."
When it comes to adhering to progressive values and towing her political party’s message, Gillibrand checks off all the boxes, but she will have to out work other like-minded progressives like her colleagues in the U.S. Senate, who have already announced their presidential candidacies.
"The people of this country deserve a president worthy of your bravery," Gillibrand said. "A president who not only sets an example, but follows yours. Your bravery inspires me every day, and that is why I'm running for president of the United States."
