Doral, Florida – Sens. Marco Rubio (R) and Rick Scott (R), along with Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R), attended a roundtable meeting with leaders from the Venezuelan, Colombian, Cuban and Nicaraguan communities, to show support for the ongoing efforts to bring “freedom and democracy” in Venezuela.
The three legislators earlier this week called on President Donald Trump to put the U.S. Military in position to deliver humanitarian aid to the Venezuelan people.
Trump has already stated that a military option to force Dictator Maduro out of power was “on the table,” but by sending US military personnel to the region, the move could not only force Maduro to leave the country, but could also press Russia into countering any US offensive.
Because Russia is the “puppet master” in the region, it poses a clear threat to the United States of America.
Sens. Rubio and Scott were asked about the Russian threat during the Q & A portion of the press conference.
Rubio, who has been leading the charge against Russia, stated that the Russians don’t really have a “loyalty for Maduro,” just a desire to have someone like him in Venezuela.
“The presence of Russian security forces in our hemisphere is a direct challenge to the national security of the United States,” said Rubio
Diaz-Balart, who says that Russia knows better than to underestimate President Trump, also says that “Trump understands what’s at stake” and knows who the “culprits are in Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua.”
“President Trump is not willing to lead from behind, said Diaz-Balart. “You have a person in the White House, who is willing to take action, who is willing to lead from the front, and I don’t think his resolve should ever be underestimated.”
