President Donald Trump’s words over twitter have caused contention and discussion over how the country will move forward, and Democrats are preparing to vote on a measure that would condemn the President’s tweets.

In a letter from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D) directed to her Democratic colleagues, Pelosi called for support for an upcoming resolution that would condemn the President’s words against Democratic congresswomen Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar and Ayanna Pressley.

In the letter, Pelosi argues that the President has gone “beyond his own low standards using disgraceful language about Members of Congress.” She added that Democrats would “forcefully respond to these disgusting acts.”

Though the President has doubled down on his attacks, saying that the four congresswomen are “Pro-Terrorist,” Democrats are unifying to legislatively respond.

Senator Chuck Schumer (D), the Senate Minority Leader, gave a speech on the Senate floor this week, asserting that “the President’s comments demand condemnation from all corners of the political spectrum.”

Schumer also added that “it’s become frighteningly common for many of my Republican colleagues to let these moments sail by without saying even a word.”

As well, 2020 Presidential candidates have also commented on the exchange between President Trump and the Democratic congresswoman.

Speaking at an event in in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Rep. John Delaney (D) called for the Democratic moment to take this as “the calling of the Democratic Part… to step forward and be the party that this country so desperately needs.”

In an appearance on CNN, former Secretary of House and Urban Development Julian Castro (D) also slammed the President, saying that “everybody knows that the President acts like a white supremacist.”

Calling Trump “a racist,” Castro elaborated that Trump has made his racism “clear on so many different occasions and not only that. As the leader of our country, his politics, his strategy is about dividing people along racial lines. It’s called racial priming, and he has done that more successfully than any politician we have seen in a very long time.”
