With the recent news that former advisor to the President, John Bolton, would be willing to testify in a Senate hearing, all eyes have been on President Trump as his impeachment proceedings float over his presidency and the 2020 election season.
Weighing in on the news, Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R) shared his thoughts on twitter, expressing that it was “worth repeating” that “the testimony & evidence considered in a Senate impeachment trial should be the same testimony & evidence the House relied upon when they passed the Articles of Impeachment.”

Since voting to impeach President Trump, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D) has chosen not to send the Articles of Impeachment to the Senate, which has received criticism from Republicans as they continue to defend the President.
Though Democrats overwhelmingly voted to impeach the President, save for two, Republicans have consistently maintained that the impeachment is a smear campaign. As well, many Democrats have remained mum regarding their vote to impeach as they run their reelection bids, especially in battleground state like Florida that voted for President Trump in the 2016 election.
Senator Rubio’s comments add on to a contentious point in the political arena, and the President continues to double down on his innocence.
