In Arizona, Senator Martha McSally (R) is facing a reelection campaign that has been quite contentious.
Although the state voted for President Trump in the 2016 election, the race against Rep. Gabby Giffords’ (D) husband, Mark Kelly (D), has been a closely watched battle.
Asa former astronaut, the Democrat is also an outspoken political activist, taking on pro-2nd amendment supporters since Giffords’ life was threatened by a shooter.
However, historically, political races have been lost over minute details that were not paid attention to, and one overlooked error could end up damaging his campaign in more ways than one.
Over the Christmas break, the family released a Christmas greeting card, urging supporters to enjoy a happy holiday season.
The card notified receivers that they are “so grateful for all of the support we’ve received this year, and we’re ready to go full speed ahead in 2020.”
But, the Kelly campaign did not realize that the important transparency disclaimer was not on the card, which is a requirement because it is a campaign piece.
As the McSally campaign looks to keep the seat red in this upcoming election, the Kelly campaign may have handed unnecessary fodder to be used against them so early into the new year.
