President Obama's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) executive order is bearing the fruits of the program's push to aid illegal immigrant children brought to the U.S. at not fault of their own.

Nebraska was the last state to allow these "Dreamers" the opportunity to apply for a state driver's license, and since lifting the ban, has issued some 1,300 driver's licenses to qualifying youths.

The deferred-action policy, announced by President Barack Obama in 2012, gives certain youths a Social Security number, a two-year work permit and protection from deportation. Although a few states initially announced they'd deny licenses to those youths, only Arizona and Nebraska ultimately adopted such policies and a court blocked Arizona's law.

Republican lawmakers have for more the most part opposed DACA because it is by every definition, amnesty for illegal immigrants, regardless of the circumstances for which these kids illegally entered the United States.

The big fear that Republicans, as well as many Independent voters have, is that any illegal immigrant granted U.S Resident status or U.S. Citizenship, would eventually vote Democrat, because the policy to grant them amnesty, or give them a pathway to citizenship, originated in the Democratic Party.
