Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro says that he will not reopen the border between Venezuela and Colombia until the Colombian government stops "attacking" his country's economy, and until the drug smuggling and crime he alleges is crossing over from Colombia is stopped.
Maduro closed down the border between the two countries to keep out paramilitary and drug smugglers he says have been infiltrating his country from Colombia.
Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos says that instead of Maduro closing the border, he should work along side Colombia because the two countries have the same common economic and security agenda.
Government officials from both countries will meet this week to discuss returning to "normalcy," said Venezuelan Prime Minister Delcy Rodriguez.
Santos said that he will personally reach out to Maduro to fix the border issue because its that innocent citizens of each country that are suffering from the border closing.
