Like most Republicans who are running for elected office will say about immigration reform, combat veteran and double-amputee Brian Mast believes that in order for real immigration reforms to take place, the U.S. border needs to be secured.
In a sit down interview with Mast this week, the married father of three, surprised me when he stating that he was of Mexican descent. Mast's grandparents on his mother's side immigrated legally from Mexico.
Mast, who like Senator Ted Cruz, speaks very little Spanish, said that the immigration issue is close to his heart because of the fact that his mother's parents were immigrants from south of the U.S. border.
Mast believes that illegal immigration is a national security issue, and not just a border problem, because of the threat of radical Islam that is looking to make the U.S. it's new "battleground."
