Both congressional Republicans and Democrats agree that Venezuela’s dictator Nicholas Maduro regime is nothing more than a criminal organization that needs to be removed.
Maduro has followed in the footsteps of he predecessor, the late Hugo Chavez, in leaving the clear majority of the Venezuelan state impoverished, and has committing human rights atrocities on a daily basis.
Many Venezuelan exiles and migrants would like to see nothing more than Trump fly a drone over Caracas and drop “American diplomacy” on the head of Maduro.
Joel Frewa, a U.S. Army veteran born in Venezuela, believes that if Trump ‘neutralizes’ Maduro, Venezuela in turn pays for the border wall along.
Frewa wants Trump to invade, but while most people will agree that Maduro should be targeted for removal, an invasion of the country by the U.S. military is out of the question.
Unless Maduro shoots himself in the foot by directly or indirectly putting American national interest and security at risk, the U.S. will most likely refrain from taking any military action.
The Trump Administration has imposed severe economic sanctions against the regime, will that be enough?
Also, it is important to remember that Venezuela is attached at the hip with Iran, China, Cuba, and Russia. Russia and Cuba are supplying Venezuela with military aide and supplies, so with that said, a U.S. military option in Venezuela would surely impact relations with Russia.
