The botched "Fast and Furious" gun operation conducted by the U.S Justice Department, through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), where hundreds of guns were sold Mexican drug dealers and cartels, is once again at the center of yet another shoot out in Mexico.
The gunfight between Mexican authorities and drug dealers in Puerto Penasco, Mexico, which left 5 drug gunmen dead, produced a gun that was traced back to the gun store in the United States at the center of the ATF's gun-selling operation.
The recent gun discovery from the "Fast and Furious" operation is not an isolated one, as more guns continue to turn up at crime scenes along the U.S.-Mexico border, further fueling the disturbing trend that more of the same violence is expected to continue, as hundreds of more weapons are still unaccounted for.
However, some of the guns began turning up at murder scenes along the Arizona-Mexico border, including at the 2010 killing of U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry. And hundreds of other weapons still remain missing.
"ATF has accepted responsibility for the mistakes made in the Fast and Furious investigation and at the attorney general's direction we have taken appropriate and decisive action to ensure that these errors will not be repeated," ATF said in a statement. "And we acknowledge that, regrettably, firearms related to the Fast and Furious investigation will likely continue to be recovered at future crime scenes." -Fox News
