Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump's comments about resolving the "birthright citizenship" problem, has once again thrust illegal immigration (as if it never left) problem into the political limelight.
During an exclusive interview with HISPOLITICA, Trump said that he believes that the 14th Amendment to the Constitution has bee "read wrong," and that the amendment was added to the Constitution to address black slaves.
“I think that the 14th Amendment was being read wrong by everyone, “said Trump, adding that the amendment was “done actually for slaves so they could become citizens of this country,” and not illegal immigrants crossing the U.S. border.
Now "The Donald's" GOP presidential primary opponents-Fiorina, Christie, Carson, Walker, Rubio, Cruz, Bush, and Kasich- are speaking out about the birthright citizenship issue, and all have stated that the amendment should be left alone, and not repealed, as Trump has said.
The thought of repealing the 14th Amendment is something some conservatives, a constitutional purists have long called for.
