Before President Trump decided to temporarily (3 weeks) reopen the government while he and Democratic leaders continue to negotiate a fix the U.S.-Mexico border security issue, scores of Democratic members of congress relentlessly bashed the president’s call to fund the now-famous “Wall” he had promised Americans during the 2016 presidential election cycle.

Democrats like Arizona’s Rep. Raul Grijalva are rejoicing over the apparent defeat of a border wall measure.

Like Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Grijavla, along with his fellow Arizonan, Rep. Ruben Gallego (D), have not backed down, nor have they minced their words or feelings towards Trump’s proposed border wall.

“This shutdown was completely avoidable and only brought on by the President's fragile ego and his delusional border wall,” said Grijalva. (Twitter)

But even as Border Patrol agents continue to  speak out in support of a longer, taller border wall, a former Obama Administration official has recently siding with President Trump’s assertion that a wall is needed to help keep the criminal element out of the U.S.

Obama’s former Border Patrol Chief Mark Morgan believes “the president is right” in that “the wall works” in keeping out crime.

"My position is not coming from political ideology. It’s coming from 30 years of governmental service," Morgan said, (ABC News, WLOS)

Meanwhile, Grijalva, who’s congressional district skirts the almost the entire stretch of U.S. southern border in Arizona, continues to pound the “TrumpShutdown” into the desert floor, saying that Trump’s “ego” has cost Americans $3 billion.

Trump continues to push for the border wall, but says that the outlook for a compromise with Democrats doesn’t look promising. A second shutdown looms over Washington, D.C.
