The long anticipated State of the Union addressed shocked, I mean shocked as many Democrats watching to see if President Trump would dig deep into his bag of political backhands and jabs, to berate Speaker Pelosi and those who have spoken ill about him.
Instead of using his bully pulpit to bash Democrats, Trump delivered a speech that touch on the issues of immigration, border security, foreign policy, opioid addiction, cancer survival, military service, and self-sacrifice, to name a few topics.
The speech worked as a new CBS poll shows that 76% of Americans who watched the speech agreed with President Trump.
Even a CNN poll conducted after the presidents State of the Union address found that 59% of viewers liked the speech and another 17% somewhat liked it.
While Democrats used the speech to push back against the president's accomplishments and to outline what they feel his message lacked, newly-elected Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema (D) took a different, more positive and bipartisan approach in response to the president's speech.
“There is so much we agree on as Americans. We must cut red tape for our businesses, grow jobs for the American people, and work together to bridge manufactured partisan divides and put our country first. I will continue to stand up for Arizona against this unnecessary trade war that’s hurting our economy. I’ll keep working with anyone to get results for Arizona families.”-Sen. Kyrsten Sinema
