President Trump has fulfilled his promise to back out of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF) with Russia, citing that Russia’s government had broken the treaty over a decade ago, and continues to violate the agreement.
For years, it was very clear that Russia had been cheating, including their testing of a ground-based cruise missile program.
The U.S. and NATO tried everything to get the Russians acknowledge their deceit and betrayal, but all their efforts to do so failed.
Trump called out the Russians, and is now out of the treaty.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R), a member of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, praised Trump for his effort, saying that “even the Obama administration administration acknowledged that Russia was violating the treaty, but they left it in place, which constrained our ability to build the weapons that we need while leaving our rivals, Russia and especially China, without those constraints.”
