President Trump has drawn a line in the desert with Mexico, as the president threatened to send armed U.S. soldiers to the southern border after a Mexican military patrol drew their weapons on a group of U.S. National Guardsmen patrolling the border.
“Mexico’s Soldiers recently pulled guns on our National Guard Soldiers, probably as a diversionary tactic for drug smugglers on the Border. Better not happen again! We are now sending ARMED SOLDIERS to the Border. Mexico is not doing nearly enough in apprehending & returning!” he tweeted.
Mexican authorities said that their soldiers believed that their U.S. Army soldiers were patrolling on Mexican territory, and not on American soil.
Trump recently threaten to shut down the border with Mexico, if Mexico did not do something about the thousands of migrants passing through from Central America.
During a roundtable meeting on a recent trip to Calexico, California, President Trump said that the U.S. could not admit anymore illegal immigrants because the country has “full.”
“Whether it’s asylum, whether it’s anything you want, its illegal immigration, can’t take you anymore. Our country is full, our area is full, the sector is full, can’t take you anymore. I’m sorry, can’t happen, so turn around—that’s the way it is.”
