Democrats won control of the House after the 2018 midterm election by running on healthcare, and from the looks of it, healthcare will once again be their focus this upcoming election cycle.
With the entire field of Democratic presidential candidates taking a hard-left ideological turn in hopes to win over their political party’s base of support, President Trump’s path to re-election could be paved in gold, barring an unforeseen missteps or October surprises.
With all that said, congressional Democrats are making a hard push to retain control of the House of Representatives, but the newly-elected ultra-Progressive caucus is panning out to be more of a crutch than an asset.
Democrats are pushing hard to preserve the flawed and failing Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare.
“House Dems have already passed SIX BILLS designed to lower Americans' health care costs & reverse Republicans' health care sabotage. And that's only the beginning,” said Rep. Ted Deutch (D-FL)
By their own admission, Democrats believe that Obamacare needs to be fixed, but not replaced.
Republicans and their “healthcare sabotage” don’t want to settle on a quick fix, rather a “repeal and replace” measure that President Trump has been advocating for.
Because Trump recently stated that he wanted to scrap Obamacare, Democrats have been in full campaign swing to paint the president as the healthcare boogeyman that wants to take away the healthcare coverage of millions of Americans.
Presidential hopefuls like Sen. Bernie Sanders is taking Trump’s Obamacare plans all the way to the bank. Interestingly enough, the self-styled Socialist Democrat does not support the recent House Democrat measure to expand Obamacare, and prefers his “Medicare for All” single payer healthcare plan.
