The Trump Administration is not only focused on funding a border wall along the U.S. southern border, but through the Department of Homeland Security, it has committed tens of millions of dollars to help fund security funding.
In 2019, $23 million alone has been set aside by DHS for Texas, of which a 25% has already arrived in the Lone Star State.
Texas’ Republican Gov. Greg Abbott announced that a portion of the $23 million security funding package, the $4.7 million Operation Stonegarden Grant Program (OPSG), came in to help law enforcement increase their “capabilities” along the southern border.
According to Abbott’s office, the allotted funds would ensure that participating law enforcement agencies have all the resources they need to confront the existing and growing threats along the U.S.-Mexico border.
"These grants will provide more resources to the men and women of law enforcement who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe," said Gov. Abbott.
