Political campaign finance violations are a big deal and due frequently occur, but rarely will a violator go to jail breaking one those set rules or laws.
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D) is being investigated by the state of Minnesota for allegedly violating that state’s campaign finance laws.
According to a complaint filed by Republican State Rep. Steve Drazkowski alleged that Omar used $6,000 of her campaign funds to pay for a divorce attorney and trips to Boston and Estonia.

Omar, who stated that the money paid to her attorney was for “crisis management services” and not for a dissolution of marriage, recently had to payback $2,500 she accepted from speeches she gave that were funded by the government.
But even though there are a lot of people rooting for her demise over her anti-Semitic tropes, and apparent anti-Israel views, Rep. Omar will most likely walk away from this probe into her state campaign finances with little more than a fine.
Now, if she willingly and willfully broke any laws, she could face jail time, but that would be a rarity.
