With PRIDE month upon us, it seems as if every 2020 Democratic presidential candidate is trying to "out gay" one another, using the LGBT community to stake their equality claims.

President Trump is the first Republican president to acknowledge PRIDE month, and now Democrats are trying to win over this important voting demographic that makes up a large part of their party's base of support.

Of all the candidates in the crowded field, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who is openly gay and married, could have an advantage, but that remains to be seen.

"Thanks to leaders like Marsha P. Johnson and Harvey Milk, I have faith in the possibility of change and growth in this country. There is still more work to do, but let us take a moment and celebrate the gains we've made this."- Pete Buttigieg

Here is Sen. Elizabeth Warren looking "energized" at a gay pride event.

Kamala Harris, who is positioned somewhere in the middle of the pack, recently highlighted her experience of defending the LGBT community as San Francisco's DA.

"As San Francisco’s District Attorney, I helped make California the first state to ban the “gay/trans panic” defense, which was often used to justify horrendous violence against the LGBTQ+ community. It’s time we pass the bill to ban it nationwide."- Sen. Kamala Harris
