Like the entire field of 2020 Democratic presidential candidates are doing, Sen. Kamala Harris is running a left of center campaign to win over the Democratic Party’s progressive base of support.

Harris has a “big idea” that is focused on bolstering education helping teachers, but it will cost Americans in a ‘big’ way.

According to Harris, she wants to “pay teachers their value” and is proposing giving them all a $13,500 raise because she believes that teachers are being paid 11% less than other professionals.

When asked how much the total “price tag” of her proposal, Harris said that “the price tag is $315 billion over the course of 10 years, and that it will be paid for by “increasing the estate tax.”

With Vice President Joe Biden slipping in all the recent public opinion polls, Harris has been the beneficiary of Biden’s slide, having increased her polling numbers by a few percentage points.
