As the rivalry between President Trump and Democratic Reps. Ayanna Pressley, Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar escalates, 2020 Presidential election candidates are rounding up and throwing their support behind Minnessota Rep. Ilhan Omar.
This week, President Trump held a rally in Greenville, North Carolina.
Attendees began chanting “Send her Back” when President Trump began to criticize the Democratic congresswoman.
Since the rally on Wednesday, Republicans like House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R) have disavowed the chant, and Democratic Presidential candidates for the upcoming election are shifting gears from slamming themselves to focus on voicing their disapproval of the attacks against Omar.
Taking to twitter, Senator Bernie Sanders (I) asserted that he is standing with Omar, adding that he is “proud to work with her in Congress.”
#IStandWithIlhan and am proud to work with her in Congress.
Trump is stoking the most despicable and disturbing currents in our society. And that very hatred and racism fuels him. We must fight together to defeat the most dangerous president in the history of our country.

Sanders also slammed the President, saying that he “is stoking the most despicable and disturbing currents in our society. And that very hatred and racism fuels him.”
He concluded that Democrats “must fight together to defeat the most dangerous president in the history of our country.”
Senator Elizabeth Warren (D) also shared her thoughts, arguing that “we must initiate impeachment proceedings to hold him accountable. And we must build an unstoppable grassroots movements that resoundingly defeats not just Trump, but complicit Republicans everywhere.”
We must call out those who remain silent. We must initiate impeachment proceedings to hold him accountable. And we must build an unstoppable grassroots movement that resoundingly defeats not just Trump, but complicit Republicans everywhere.

Senator Kamala Harris (D) expressed that Trump “defiles the office of the President,” and she called for getting the President out of the office because he is vile, cowardly, xenophobic and racist.
It’s vile.
It’s cowardly.
It’s xenophobic.
It’s racist.
It defiles the office of the President.
And I won't share it here. It’s time to get Trump out of office and unite the country.

Finally, Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D), who’s been struggling in the polls with 0%, detailed that “these chants don’t happen by accident.” He called them “the product of a president who sees our diversity not as a strength, but as a weakness.”
These chants don’t happen by accident. They are the product of a president who sees our diversity not as a strength, but as a weakness. I believe in our country. And I believe, together, not allowing our differences to divide us, we will defeat him and everything he stands for. https://t.co/RKZ6PTQM4g

As the President doubles down against Democrats, the tension between the White House and Democrats doesn’t seem like it will calm down anytime soon.
