With the 2020 Presidential election just around the corner, all eyes are on the swing states as once again the Democrats look to take the House and the Senate.

In an effort to maintain control and reclaim Congress, Republicans are looking to strengthen their chance, which may include Curt Schilling.

The former Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher and staunch conservative announced that he is “absolutely considering” a run for Congress in Arizona against one of the five Democrats in the state.

In a statement released to the Arizona Republic, Schilling announced that he was weighing whether to enter the political arena, but he did not specify which district he would be making a run for.

He added that he was “not ready to do any of that right now. If/When things solidify I will but right now it’s something in the ‘I’m considering it’ stage.”

Schilling is an Arizona native who considers himself a resident of Massachusetts.

Furthermore, he commented that “the state is not the state I grew up in. Making Arizona citizens of EVERY Race, religion and sexual orientation 2nd class citizens to illegal immigrants is about as anti-American as it gets.”

As well, Schilling noted that “when you have homeless veterans, children, and you’re spending tax dollars on people smuggling drugs and children across our border someone in charge needs their ass kicked.”

This seems to signal the important issues that would make up his platform, and Schilling has already received his first major endorsement if he should decide to run for office.

In a tweet, President Trump praised Schilling, arguing that he is “a great pitcher and patriot” and that it would be “terrific!” if he decided to run on the Republican ticket.

In an interview with Armed American Radio's Mark Walters over the weekend, Schilling commented that running for office is "something that my wife and I have talked about, and she's now becoming more and more pumped at the potential."
