The UN's Food and Agriculture Organization has awarded Venezuela special recognition in its efforts to eradicate hunger. The award comes at an interesting time when Venezuelans by the millions are facing severe food and medicine shortages in the economically ravaged nation.

Venezuelan Vice-President Jorge Arreaza accepted the award undocumented that the "Venezuelan Revolution" has invested over $142 Billion in food programs over the last decade.

Gabriella Meinhardt, a Venezuelan political exile in Miami told Hispolitca:

The UN has got some nerve. The Venezuelan people must be wondering where that money has gone. Our people suffer from hunger daily, and make 6-hour long waiting lines just hoping to get their hands on anything they can get.

The photos below show empty shelves and grocery store lines in Venezuela.
